Ishinomaki Hibarino Biomass Energy conducts an evacuation drill every year on March 11 to keep the memory of the earthquake from fading away and to remember the significance of doing business in Ishinomaki.

The drill was based on the assumption of a seismic intensity of 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, which was observed in Ishinomaki City at the time of the earthquake.

At 14:46, the time of the earthquake, a moment of silence was observed for the victims of the disaster.
