September 2019: A 48m-high large-scale drilling rig (a device for drilling the well needed to extract geothermal resources) is being used to drill day and night until a depth of 2,000m underground is reached.

The conveyance of materials and equipment to the site is underway, with equipment including specialized made-to-order sour-resistant steel tubing (steel tubing manufactured to precise specifications to enable it to withstand high temperatures and highly-volcanic acidic or “sour” soil).
