Our approach to human resources

Do you get a kick out of your work?

We get a kick out of the kind of work that involves grappling with big problems, not knowing whether all the effort will lead to a solution. In our view, it is precisely the global societal issues, the environmental and energy issues which cannot be solved half-heartedly that we must hunker down and tackle.
At the same time, we insist on achieving personal growth. This is because, for us, business scale equates to the amount of problems solved. We are not satisfied with achieving slight improvement. We want to have the biggest positive impact possible on deeply rooted societal problems.

Who do you work for?

Around 2016, when we were reformulating our mission and vision in preparation for the listing of our shares, we asked ourselves the simple question “Who do you work for?” The conclusion we came to was that we worked for the planet first and for local communities second.
Renewables contribute to global decarbonization. At the same time, we are also engaged in business at a local level, encouraging local communities to use their resources. We take pride in such work, which utilizes the resources of each region and contributes to the planet and local communities.

What kind of people do you work with?

The process of tackling major problems like environmental and energy issues is not straightforward and rife with problems. Since our foundation, we have tackled a range of environmental solutions businesses, and we have never once encountered a business that did not involve setbacks and risks.
Even so, we have succeeded in realizing many different businesses. This is undoubtedly down to the strength of our employees. Behind the establishment of a business lies too many employees’ side stories to tell. I guess that from a bystander’s perspective, there are more bitter moments than sweet but our business has been created with the support of employees who are determined to get on with it nonetheless and solve societal problems.

The importance of being “mission driven”

I believe that a quality common to all such employees is that they are “mission driven.” In “RENOVA’s 7 values,” which summarizes the values and behavior patterns to be valued by all RENOVA employees as individuals and RENOVA as an organization, this quality of being “mission driven” is defined as “All for our mission.”
We have gathered together individuals who share our mission “to create green and sustainable energy systems for a better world” and have formed the team that is RENOVA. Some of our employees go beyond simply sharing our mission and are even more deeply committed, saying that the company has happened to adopt their own personal aspirations as its mission. Such employees perform at a very high level precisely because they work autonomously, considering what they need to do for their own personal growth, which is exactly what needs doing to achieve our mission.
We intend to nurture such autonomy on the part of our employees. It is precisely because every employee is “mission driven” that we make decisions quickly and can also respond to environmental changes in an agile manner, securing our competitiveness as an organization.

Our commitment to our employees

Based on this recognition, RENOVA is committed to providing exciting career and growth opportunities for our employees. Our business growth cycle is linked to our growth cycle as individuals and as an organization, and we aim to keep these two wheels turning smoothly.

  • ・We solve societal problems by creating business.
  • ・Opportunities to take on challenges arise in the process of creating business.
  • ・Our “mission driven” people overcome such challenges and achieve personal growth.
  • ・As a result, our organizational capabilities increase, allowing us to take on even more difficult business, and both our employees as individuals and we as a company achieve growth.

To keep the two cycles turning and provide exciting opportunities for personal growth, we are also constantly working to improve our personnel systems, our working environment, and employee benefits.
